LOL
I guess it'd be 21 asterisks, but I would have had to mod your post.

Q for CS people: How would you define BNF in BNF?

CS = Computer Science
BNF = Backus-Naur Form, used to define grammars and syntax. For example, a grammar under which you may create the words "a", "aa", "aaa", "aaaa", and so on, would be defined as follows:
<AXIOM> ::= a | a <AXIOM>
Axiom is the origin of the generation, i.e. you start with "AXIOM", then substitute it for either "a" or "a" plus another AXIOM, until you cannot substitute anything else. Thus, to create the word "aaaa" you would have to:
0. Start with <AXIOM>
1. Change it for "a <AXIOM>"
2. Change <AXIOM> for "a <AXIOM>" again, so you now have "aa <AXIOM>"
3. Change <AXIOM> for "a <AXIOM>" again, so you now have "aaa <AXIOM>"
4. Change <AXIOM> for "a", giving "aaaa" and ending the process because you don't have any more nonterminals (symbols between <> ) to work with/no rules can be applied.
The above language may also be described with the much simpler regular expression a+ (BNF is more useful for G2, G1 and G0 type languages.)
Consider all this technobabbling .
Oh but if you want to learn about this, tell me and I'll explain everything to you.
